Daily Completely Dependent Prayer Prompt:

“At its most simple and straightforward, prayer is simply asking God for help… Jesus prayed about anything and everything.” – Tyler Staton

Today you are invited to pray through some, or perhaps all, of Jesus’ declarations from the cross. As you pray, open your hands in a posture of surrender and receive His peace.

  • “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” Luke 23:33-34
  • Ask God to make you aware of sinful actions, words, and attitudes to which you may be blinded. Ask for his forgiveness now.
  • “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:39-43
  • Where do you need the comfort of Jesus’ assurance in your life? Pray into any areas of doubt and trust God to make his presence known to you.
  • “Dear woman, here is your son…Here is your mother.” John 19:25-27
  • Who is your spiritual family? Give thanks for them and pray for them.
  • “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” Mark 15:33-34
  • When have you felt abandoned or rejected? Is someone in your life struggling with these feelings? Boldly pray for God’s loving presence to be tangible for yourself and for them.
  • “I am thirsty.” John 19:28
  • Where do you recognize a spiritual thirst for God in you, an unmet longing for a deeper relationship? Share your desires with Jesus. Ask Holy Spirit to quench that longing.
  • “It is finished!” John 19:29-30
  • What debt are you trying to settle on your own that Jesus already paid? Pray for faith to rest in His accomplished work.
  • “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” Luke 23:44-46
  • What has God brought to the surface this week that He is inviting you to entrust into his hands? Surrender that now.
