The Impact of One

girlincommonsAfter leading in various areas of the church for more than 33 years, I remain convinced that everyone has the ability to contribute to the Kingdom of Heaven.  At Richwoods, we desire to be a church of impact.  This means helping everyone discover how they can be part of what God is doing in and through us.
Many people often think of contributing as being only financial in nature and miss opportunities to make an impact in other ways.  Take, for instance, a single mom who struggles to make ends meet.  What could she possibly contribute?  There is one woman at Richwoods who didn’t let her circumstances hold her back from being a blessing to others.
This single mom stepped in to help as Richwoods began to shift its benevolence structure from providing handouts that create dependency to one of enabling families to move forward financially, emotionally, and spiritually.  The ministry, now called the PEACE Center, helps area families by building relationships, providing ongoing contact and care, and offering financial assistance when applicable.
Having a working knowledge of local area resources gave her knowledge and experience that she could offer to the PEACE Center.  She is now experiencing the fulfillment of leading a team and enjoying the value of working together with others in unity for God’s glory.  She is impacting and blessing her community with what she has.
What gifts do you have that can impact others?  Don’t let your circumstances cloud your vision of who you are in Christ and look for the opportunities God puts in front of you!

Our budgets are set on a calendar year, submitted by staff and approved by the Elders of Richwoods.  Our ability to meet the needs of the people, provide programs, offer ministry opportunities, and so on, are all contingent on the faithful and generous giving of the people who call Richwoods their church home.  As a church we do not take annual pledges to set a budget but we work off of our historical giving and attendance patterns to project a conservative budget.
