A little more about Brandon:

Brandon joined the Richwoods team in January 2024 after spending the previous 18 months in Colorado and growing up in Southern California. Brandon sensed a called to ministry shortly after giving his life to Christ at 13. But after graduating with a Bachelor’s in Christian Ministries, God directed Brandon to several years of work at a small college athletic department where Brandon ran communications efforts, kept statistics, and delivered public addressing and play-by-play announcing for several sports. Brandon and his wife, Briana, refocused on their call to ministry in 2020 and he is ecstatic to champion Richwoods’ calling to the Journey of Discipleship. Brandon has studied discipleship and spiritual formation for nearly a decade and also has several years of experience as a certified spiritual director through the Institute for Spiritual Formation at Talbot School of Theology.

Brandon met his wife Briana at Biola University and they have a son named Grayson. Brandon enjoys reading good books, watching sports, keeping an exercise routine, and extending hospitality to others. As a family, the Taylors love cooking, having extended conversations with friends and family, and doing fun family activities (like going to playgrounds and all things trucks, thanks to Grayson!).

Tell us more:

Born in Decatur IL in the year of our Lord 1950. Dad worked for Caterpillar and was climbing the ladder so we moved a LOT. I attended 9 schools, 3 in second grade, to get through HS. Dad came home one day with a new job in Fargo, ND. Mom said NO,(and a lot more)they got divorced in 1961. Mother remarried to a really good man. He was a builder in Morton, Taught me a lot that came in handy later.
Finally winding up in Morton for 5 years with an outstanding band. The band broke up after 7 years together when I was 18 and I moved to Peoria and lived in my car. Finally I met up with a friend from Washington Christian Church who guided me to some guys looking for roommates. Moved on to jobs at Pabst, Bergners and some other minimal jobs winding up at Caterpillar thanks to my dad. David was cruising North St in Peoria, driving a 65 GTO convertible, and spotted a car load of blondes with a flat tire. Well now WHAT ARE YA GONNA DUE?? turns out it was Nancy’s car, she had a spare and I had a jack. That is how we meet. Some time later  I had to make a choice between her and music. Luckily I chose her. Davidwent to  work for Nancy’s dad as a carpenter and all that my step father had  taught me paid off big time. Nancy and I  have been together as a couple since the moon landing July 20 1969, married in October 1971 and have no regrets. Three children and eight grandkids to prove the point. There is NO doubt that the Lord gave Nan a flat tire just for me. Love him dearly for the blessings He has poured out in our lives together.

Workplace: Sheridan Road Lumber

How long have you attended Richwoods?: My family and I have attended Richwoods for about 12 or 13 years.

If you had to eat one food for every meal going forward, what would it be?:The one food that I could eat everyday would probably be pizza, there are so many combinations so I would never get bored.Emoji

Movie, tv show or book that describes your life:The tv show that would describe my life would probably be “The Cosby Show.” Our family is close, quirky, and crazy, just like the Cosby’s.

Tell us more:

I am the second oldest of four brothers and three sisters. I’ve been married to my beautiful wife Stephanie for 21 years. We have five beautiful kids, aging from 27 down to 16. I am most certainly by desire and default a family man. I make it a point to keep myself involved in my kids’ lives. I’ve been a Peoria native all but 5 or so years of my life. There was a brief stint where my wife and I lived in Bloomington. I grew up on the south end of town with my mom (my biological parents were separated) until I was about six years old, when I went to live with my dad and stepmom. My dad was a serious church goer, which meant we were always at church. I’d always find him making statements like “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” which fortified church in our house. At some point our family branched away from the church we grew up in and my dad started his own church, which I’m certain is the building blocks of where and why I am today.
I won’t say I’ve always enjoyed church but the older I got and the more I understood how God fit in my life, the more things became clear, which sparked my involvement, hence drums and singing and anything else the church needed.
I’m super passionate about Jesus and am in constant pursuit of Him with the desire to be more like Him every day. I am far from perfect and am not ashamed to admit it but find myself reserved in letting people see how imperfect I am. I love the journey that I’ve been on and can’t see myself not doing life with Jesus. I love people and want to see everyone succeed in their life both personally and spiritually. I am an extravert with introvert tendencies. Meaning, I like having new friends but struggle sparking new friendships, I love to fellowship but am also just fine with staying at home. I don’t mind being a part of conversations but will shy away from starting them. Emoji
A few things that I enjoy doing: I enjoy reading books that stimulate my thinking, I enjoy writing, I LOVE riding my Harley Davidson, and I enjoy traveling. But on the flipside of that, while I love my city, I can’t stand when it’s cold, I’d love to be somewhere that’s always warm, and I struggle to discipline myself to find time to do the things that I enjoy.
