This week I’m at Sonshine Music Festival with SrHi students being a blessing. Next week JrHi students will be a blessing through Mission Peoria.
Each summer the students of Richwoods spend a week being a Blessing to others. This week the SrHi group is camping out in Wisconsin, near the twin cities of Minnesota, helping with the Sonshine Music Festival. They’re setting up facilities others will be enjoying throughout the week, picking up trash, and helping people find the things they are looking for.
Our JrHi students will be working with Mission Peoria next week blessing local agencies and neighborhoods on the south side of Peoria. They’ll be doing clean-up projects, working with children’s programs and a host of other things.
Please pray for these students during these weeks. May the love of Jesus shine through them in every aspect of their activities drawing people closer to God. Give thanksgiving and praise to God for the adult leaders on these two trips. It takes a special breed of people to give up a week to work alongside the students and to give spiritual direction and support to them all week long, 24-7. It’s not for everyone, but we are so blessed to have faithful adults who have given themselves to these students.
Postscript: If you’d like to join that special breed of adult leaders in Student Ministries send David a note.
On average Richwoods needs to receive $39.1K in gifts to meet its 2016 operating expenses, 10% of which goes immediately to Missions and helping people in our community who are experiencing financial troubles.
2016 Cash Balance
As a policy we must have at least 2 weeks of average weekly income in our cash balance at all times, currently that figure is $75K. Combined with the cost of replacing the roof at $140K the total we would need to have in our cash balance by the end of October would be $215K. The cash balance is as of the Friday prior to the date of this posting. Figures in the graph are in thousands ($K).
Our budgets are set on a calendar year, submitted by staff and approved by the Elders of Richwoods. Our ability to meet the needs of the people, provide programs, offer ministry opportunities, and so on, are all contingent on the faithful and generous giving of the people who call Richwoods their church home. As a church we do not take annual pledges to set a budget but we work off of our historical giving and attendance patterns to project a conservative budget.
