Jill and I are with you this weekend, but not literally. We took a week off for vacation but we are still with Richwoods virtually as we connect with some of you through social media. We are looking forward to joining you in worship as we tune in to the 9am service on livestream at richwoods.org/live.
I am writing this note in advance, obviously, but as I think about being away from Richwoods, I’m looking forward to staying in touch with the church I get to work at and worship with – even when 1,500+ miles separate us.
In my role at the church I am keenly aware of the cost associated with providing the ministries of Richwoods, even the things we take for granted like the technology that helps us stay connected while we are somewhere else. The internet, livestream subscription, cameras, and computers all come with a cost. Each week it takes an average of $39.1K in faithful gifts from the people of this church in order to cover the expenses of the ministries we all enjoy.
We all need a getaway, but we all need to continue to stay connected and help build the church through faithful giving. If you’re like me, I tend to forget to give if I’m not present – out of sight, out of mind. Thankfully technology allows us to continue to be faithful when we are not present.
Using rCircle, our online community, you can set up a recurring gift. Set it up once and forget about it. You can do something similar if you use a bank that offers online bill payments. I like to use the txt-2-give method; I just enter the amount of my gift with the keyword “Richwoods” to 45777 and I get a confirmation within seconds. (The first use of this method takes about 2 minutes to link your debit card, but after that, giving takes me about 10 seconds).
You can also check out our web page with more options to give. Thanks for helping build Richwoods!
On average Richwoods needs to receive $39.1K in gifts to meet its 2016 operating expenses, 10% of which goes immediately to Missions and helping people in our community who are experiencing financial troubles.
Our budgets are set on a calendar year, submitted by staff and approved by the Elders of Richwoods. Our ability to meet the needs of the people, provide programs, offer ministry opportunities, and so on, are all contingent on the faithful and generous giving of the people who call Richwoods their church home. As a church we do not take annual pledges to set a budget but we work off of our historical giving and attendance patterns to project a conservative budget.
